NAPLES, Fla. (July 15, 2013) – London Bay Homes’ newest luxury villa model in Mediterra was awarded a coveted 2013 Aurora Award for best detached single-family home during the 34th annual Aurora Award ceremonies Saturday, July 13 in Orlando.

The three-bedroom, 3,380-square-foot villa received the homebuilding and development industry’s equivalent of the Oscar in the $1.5 million to $2 million category, competing against 19 homes within the Southeast Building Conference’s 12-state region stretching west to Texas and Louisiana, north to Virginia and also including the eastern Caribbean.

The Aurora Awards, recognizing the best communities, home designs and interior merchandising, were presented during a black-tie gala celebration as part of the Southeast Building Conference, the largest building industry trade show in the Southeast. The program is also sponsored by DesignIdeas magazine and is affiliated with the Florida Home Builders Association and the National Association of Home Builders.

Built by London Bay Homes and featuring interior design by Romanza, the Eloro is located in Mediterra’s European-inspired village neighborhood of Lucarno. Both floor plan and architecture were designed for authenticity, evident in the low entry wall surrounding a cobblestone motorcourt, decorative tiles adorning bougainvillea-wrapped portico and entry towers and a white façade accented with iron and wood.

“The judges recognized that this floor plan really was designed to blend into its location while showcasing the luxury options available to buyers,” said Mark Wilson, president of London Bay Homes, which oversees sales and marketing for the 1,700-acre Mediterra. “The Eloro is a sizeable floor plan yet it balances large gathering spaces with more intimate areas.”

The panel of judges, comprised of building, architectural, real estate and design professionals based their decision on the home’s curb appeal, landscape architect, overall architectural design, floor plan function and design as well as interior merchandising, livability and value.

The Eloro model, which was completed earlier this year, features a floor plan designed to encourage residences – and their visitors – to explore. It has a wine pantry tucked into an arched opening; vintage-inspired enamel-coated steel vanities in the master bathroom; and a secluded outdoor sitting area encircling a sculptural metal fire feature.

The floor plan also highlights a connection to outdoor spaces, offering a large al fresco living area, a pool and spa and sliding glass doors that blur boundaries between indoor and outdoor rooms.

Its interior design features a playful palette of aqua, parakeet green and tangerine, luxury finishes like granite and marble countertops and a distressed eucalyptus wood floor and painted white and aqua beadboard backsplashes and ceilings.

Recognized as the seven-time winner of the Collier Building Industry Association’s Sand Dollar Award for Community of the Year, Mediterra offers an array of lifestyle amenities, including the member-owned Club at Mediterra with two Tom Fazio-designed championship courses and the private 10,000-square-foot Beach Club on the Gulf of Mexico, featuring an elevated swimming pool, casual dining with a full bar, and valet service for beach chairs, umbrellas and beverage and food menus.

Mediterra’s onsite amenities include themed neighborhood parks; eight miles of walking and jogging trails; a fitness complex with tennis and bocce courts, swimming pool and spa services; and the 25,000-square-foot clubhouse offering formal and casual dining prepared by a staff of award-winning culinary experts.

Mediterra’s Golf Learning Center offers indoor and outdoor hitting stations, video equipment with launch monitor, a 2.5-acre short game practice complex with three greens, and a staff of certified PGA professionals. Membership opportunities at Mediterra are limited to just 225 members per 18 holes.

Planned for fewer than 950 homes, Mediterra’s master plan includes more than 1,000 acres dedicated to open space with golf, parks and nature preserves. All of the community’s amenities are membership-owned.

Since December 2009, London Bay Homes and affiliates have managed all new home sales and marketing for the luxury community. London Bay Homes recently expanded services by adding Mediterra Realty, which lists resale properties throughout Mediterra.

Available home designs in Mediterra include single-family estate homes and single-family maintenance-free villas priced from the $600,000s to more than $7 million.
